After the Jews were liberated from the Holocaust they slowly regained some of the rights they once had. In 1948, the newly created United Nations (UN) decided to create the state of Israel for the Jews by splitting Palestine into two.
“Hope is like peace. It is not a gift from God. It is a gift only we can give one another.”
–Ellie Wiesel In Israel, Jews had the rights of any other human and were not persecuted for their religion. Most of all, they had the right to live! No longer were they an oppressed people, and they began to be treated as humans once again. However, the Jewish people are still in conflict with the Palestinians today.
